-skopìa is a new University of Trento startup that was established at the end of 2015. It is a company that stems from the research activity of professor Roberto Poli, UNESCO Chair in Anticipatory Systems, and member of the Department of Sociology and Social Research at the University of Trento. -skopìa is a multi-service for-profit startup that provides strategic intelligence and analysis of changes, risks and opportunities, as well as consultancy services for the development of anticipatory-based skills.

The startup also provides applied research for public administration and businesses, based on the science of anticipation. Anticipation includes both forecasts (for example based on historical trends) and the exploration of possible futures (for example through scenarios). The consultancy services offer knowledge that helps to deal with new conditions (including possible shocks), to develop anticipatory strategies and creative solutions during decision-making, and to define adaptation strategies.  –skopìa’s mission is to spread the culture of anticipation, and to assist companies, institutions and communities in acquiring the necessary tools to independently develop their anticipatory strategies, in order to support complex future-oriented decisions.

The offices of the company are at the University of Trento’s Villazzano incubator.
